The site is easy to use. Price of hostel can be changed to any currency so you don't have to do the conversion. Also, they have chat assist which can answer your inquiries before booking. They have registered hostels all over the world at very low cost. No backpacker wants to pay for a room where he will just sleep at. Glad there's Hostelworld.
I was trapped at least 4 times in terrible hostels, because each of them has good score on hostelworld.com, may even higher than 8.5!
Hostelworld should get rid of fake review to avoid this, otherwise it's not a trustable website.
We have visited 73 counties world wide, and have used Hostelworld in all of them!! Have never had a problem, and we will continue to utilize their excellent services!!
The site is very user friendly with complete information that would definitely help the users to choose which hostel they are going to check-in. Comments and Reviews were provided in the site which is a good help for the users. Easy transaction for the payment is also a good thing.
Thanks to Hostelworld and more power to the team!
Great site - gives you all the info you need including reviews, pics etc. Only problem is that you pay a deposit on the hostelworld site but often this isn't recognised by the hostel that you visit so you don't get this deducted from your bill.... I'm guessing this is a general problem rather than one specific to hostelworld.
travelling in more than 10 countries with hostelworld, and I had never problems, not with reservations, payment via credit card etc.,
the reservation confirmation I got in a couple of minutes and the hostel turned every time out to meet the excpectations according to the reviews and described facilities
For the price, the hostel was fine. The showers were small and annoying to operate. Food regularly disappeared from the refrigerator, I felt like this was a pretty average hostel. The crowd was the pretty standard mix of long term Australians and Canadians. And since it was Thanksgiving weekend, there were also a number of American undergrads. Some cool people, and some that fit annoying tourist stereotypes. I would say I had a great time in Barcelona, and the free bar crawl every night was nice. But overall, I think that you could do better than this hostel. Not that it is a bad hostel, but it is just nothing special.
It's a very interactive and trustable (at least until now, haha :)) website (hostelworld.com), that allows you exploring what you need about affordable rate of hostels around the world, I would recommend this website to all my friends and relatives.
I have used Hostelworld.com for many years now and would recommend anyone to use it when booking a hostel. It gives you a good idea of what types of accomodation are available and for what price. Reading peoples reviews are always useful and most the time pretty acurate. A lot of backpackers tend to turn up in a city and go to the first hostel they find or trek around looking for one. This websire ensures that you don't jut end up in a hostel that will rip you off and saves you trekking round to find a decent place!
Since retiring from teaching I've been spending winters traveling through Latin America. Using Hostelworld to make reservations has provided me with a fast, convenient way to assure myself that I'll have a place to stay when I arrive at my destination. Hosteling is so much more interesting than staying in a hotel and using Hostelworld enhances my travel experiences.
I have just booked my latest traveling accommodation with Hostelworld. Simple to browse and easy to book. I am sure you won't regret using this website to choose from the huge number of hostels available around the world.
It is a great web site, they get bettee every year. The information about the hostels is organized and very simple to see. I will recomend this web site again,
To the people that use this site I recommend to watch the people's commentarys.
What can I say and where do I start...
I picked St. Christopher's at the Winston at random, out of a list of Hostels in Amsterdam that were in the vicinity of Dam square. I had no real expectations, only hope that it wouldn't be too bad.
I couldn't put into words how pleasantly surprised I was. The staff was polite, sincere and helpful, the room was spacious and clean, the beds were the most comfortable hostel beds I've ever slept on, the food was great, and all in all, I felt lucky and fortunate to have picked the Winston.
So much so, actually, that I can guarantee that I will be staying there exclusively from now on, every time I come to Amsterdam.
I have booked many hostels through the website since 2007 and I have never had one single problem. My booking was always there at the reception and my room ready for my stay. I also love that the website doesn't make us pay for the full price with our credit cards for reservation since I definitely prefer paying cash upon my arrival. Anyway, I always use Hostelworld.com when traveling!
When you choose the room you don't see photo of the room
Including the ability to locate the places on a map is very important, but sometimes not accurate, so I would recommend making that function very efficient and accessible.
Otherwise, extremely reliable and gives most of the information I ever need to find acommodation.
Every time I came to Seoul, I will choose Hongdae as where I should stay because of the cheap price and how its alive 24/7 and this guesthouse is simply in the middle of the area that gave me great access to everything, dont really spent much time at the guesthouse but the owner are very friendly and the place are clean and comfy. But still the great point of this guesthouse is the location ^^
Hostelworld is one of the most trusted internet site for me as I've booked accommodation through it 5 times already and never encounter any big issue (once a small one but later solved but a staff through chat). I'm a person who doesn't like to do any transaction through internet because you will never know whether the site will cheat you, right!? Hostelworld impressed me on how reliable it is and if I bump in to any doubt, there's a chat section where I can talk to a staff who was quite helpful (I mean it could have been more helpful if they have a real office where I can go and speak to a person). The only thing I'd like Hostelworld to improve is when I want to book an accommodation where I can book the same place for alternative nights, for example, let's say I go to Japan for 5 days but I want to stay in Tokyo on 1st and 2nd night and want to return to the same place on the last night. Now, if I want to do this, I'll have to make 2 bookings and I have to pay $2 service charge twice. It's not a lot of money but it's kind of a waste, isn't it? If Hostelworld can develop this would be so amazing and I'd definitely give 5 stars to this site.
I have been traveling in Europe for three months and have used Hostelworld almost exclusively in order to find hostels, B & Bs, hotelsm and even an apartment. The website is very easy to use and the descriptions of the hostels are dead on. I appreciate the map view, so that I can compare for myself the distance from the metro or train station and see what type of street it's on, etc. Their cancellation policy is generous and the booking fee is minimal, and in the off season they usually don't charge a fee.
My trip would be so much harder without a site like this one.
